Addresses Global Lack of Drinking Water
A new invention called Quench Sea converts seawater into clean, fresh, drinking water. The light, portable desalination device is the invention of London-based startup Hydro Wind Energy. The device removes salt, pathogens, parasites, contaminants and microplastics from the seawater. The company pledges to donate a device for every one they sell. They hope to have donated 100 million devices by 2027 which, they say, would impact a billion people globally in need of clean drinking water. The device is low cost - $60.00 It can produce three liters of water within an hour and it is manually powered.
Tremendous Global Need
2/3rds of the world's population live in water scarce areas and 7 million people a year die from water related diseases. The device has been independently tested and has been proven to work. It combines a hydraulic system, triple pre-filtration and a small, reverse osmosis membrane to desalinate seawater into fresh, clean water. The company says the device is for sailors, campers, travelers and for emergency use and humanitarian relief. Delivery of the innovative device is set for February 2021.
