Slovakia's AirCar Takes First Intercity Flight                                                  Source:  KleinVision A Flying Car That Drives and Flies Slovakia's Klein Vision has made flying car history.  Its AirCar, a combination car and aircraft, has completed its first intercity flight in Slovakia.  The flight lasted 35 minutes.  Within two minutes and 15 seconds of landing, it converted into a sportscar and drove to Bratislava, Slovakia -- the destination in its journey from Nitra, Slovakia. Tech Specs The AirCar Prototype 1 is the invention of University of Munster Professor Stefan Klein and has been developed by his company Klein Vision.  Prototype 1 has a 160 horsepower fixed propeller engine and Prototype 2 will have a 300 horsepower engine.  AirCar has a range of 621 miles.  Top air speeds are 186 mp...

World's 1st Commercial Flying Car

Holland's PAL-V                                                        Source:  PAL-V Authorized on Roads in the Netherlands The world's first commercial flying car - the PAL-V Liberty made by Dutch company PAL-V - has been approved for use on roads in the Netherlands.  The Liberty is a gyrocopter.  Rotors on the top of the vehicle provide it lift to fly.  The rotors are powered by a separate propeller engine in the back of the vehicle.  Liberty can hover like a helicopter but it doesn't take-off and land vertically like a helicopter.  It needs a runway of at least 590 feet to gain speed for take-off and 100 feet of runway for landing. Drive & Fly Time The Liberty can drive up to 99 mph on the road and when flying has a maximum speed of 112 mph.  Switching from the driving to the flying...

Cezeri Successfully Test Flights                                   Source:  Cezeri Flying Car, Baykar  eVTOL Quadcopter Turkey's first flying car, named Cezeri, has successfully completed its first series of test flights.  Tethered and untethered, the 507 pound vehicle rose and hovered 33 feet in the air.  The vehicle is an electric, vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) quadcopter.  The test flights, done by remote control in Istanbul, took place a year and a half after local engineers came up with the concept and started drawing designs. Technology The Cezeri is composed of large quadcopter-like blades with a small, glass enclosed pilot/passenger unit and take-off/landing gear grounded underneath.  It flies entirely on electricity.  It has eight electric motors, propellers and a rechargeable battery.  With three redundant intelligent flight systems...

EMBRAER'S PLANE+CAR EVTOL - FLYING CAR

Image
Wild, New Pulse Concept Source:  Embraer Electric, Autonomous, Unique Transportation System Embraer's Pulse Concept electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle (EVTOL) centers around a smart glass passenger pod that seamlessly transfers the occupants between the plane and the car for flying and driving modes.  This is a first of its kind transportation system that links autonomous land and flying vehicles with a central passenger pod.   It is a unique and highly creative new concept that provides a fascinating look at the future of transportation and the futuristic types of travel models that could be in use within 45 years. Paired Autonomous Vehicles The Design Ops team at Brazilian based Embraer created the Pulse Concept for Embraer's 50th anniversary as an aircraft manufacturer.  Pulse Concept is a pair of autonomous vehicles that travel on land and in the air without the passengers ever having to get out of the central pod. The pod moves to the vehic...
