New Glenn Rocket Part of NASA's Commercial Launch Fleet                                            Source:  Blue Origin Jeff Bezos's Rockets Soaring Into Space Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin has scored a big win.  NASA has selected the New Glenn rocket as a launcher for future NASA missions in the mid-2020's.  New Glenn joins NASA's fleet of launch vehicles. New Shepherd NASA has launched Blue Origin's New Shepherd suborbital vehicle dozens of times to fly payloads into space.  The New Glenn is an orbital launcher that can reuse its first stage booster rocket.  Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos says he expects the vehicle will carry humans as well as cargo into space. BE-7 Lunar Lander Rocket Engine:  4th Successful Test                                           Source:  Blue Origin BE-7 Test Bezos Says BE-7 Will Land 1st Woman on the Moon Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has announced that his space company Blue Origin has completed its fourth successful test of its lunar lander rocket engine, the BE-7.  He added the BE-7 will land the first women astronaut on the Moon.  This comment is interesting because Bezos is not taken to making predictions.  Unlike SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, he is very conservative and quiet about what he wants to target, until he achieves it. Amazon's $10 B Satellite Internet Network

Global Broadband Internet Access Source:  NASA Amazon Competing Against Space X Amazon is investing $10 billion to build a network of 3,236 satellites to provide high speed, broadband internet services to people around the world, including those who lack access.  The announcement comes within a day of Amazon posting the biggest profits in its 26 year history. FCC Approval for the Satellite System The Federal Communications Commission just gave Amazon approval for its Project Kuiper for a constellation of low earth orbit satellites.  The Amazon satellite network is in direct competition with SpaceX's Starlink.  SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has already launched more than 500 satellites into low earth orbit to provide inexpensive global internet access.  He plans for a system of 12,000 satellites.  Starlink will start offering broadband services to the US and Canada by the end of this year. Blue Moon Lander Unveiled Source:  Jeff Bezos and Blue Moon Target Date for Lunar Mission 2024 Amazon founder Jeff Bezos unveiled his space company Blue Origins' plans to build and launch a spacecraft that will carry astronauts and science payloads to the Moon by 2024. He said the lander vehicle called Blue Moon is incredible and has been under development for three years. Awesome Technology The lander has a powerful new hydrogen powered engine that generates up to 10,000 pounds of thrust.  It will be able to land up to 6.5 metric tons of equipment on the moon.  The technology on this vehicle includes star trackers enabling autonomous navigation, LIDAR to map terrain and gigabit-bandwidth optical communications gear. Bezos said it can touch down within 75 feet of a given target.  His target date of 2024 is in line with the Trump Administration's plans for near term space exploration.
