Preventive Health Care Through Your Smartphone Source:  University of Toronto Innovation from Canada and China Checking your blood pressure may soon be as easy as just taking a selfie on your smartphone.  Researchers at the University of Toronto in Canada, along with Chinese researchers, have developed a new app that's breakthrough.  All that's required is a quick video selfie of the face on the iPhone.  The device has been tested successfully on nearly 2000 Canadian and Chinese adults. 96% Accuracy Rate The app uses the smartphone's ability to detect red light reflected by blood (hemoglobin) under the skin surface.  The technology is called transdermal optical imaging and was invented by Prof. Kang Lee of the University of Toronto. Samsung's New Folding Phone Nearly $2000 Source:  Samsung's Galaxy Fold Ringing in New Profits Samsung has unveiled its long anticipated smartphone with a foldable screen.  It's called the Galaxy Fold and will be released on April 26 for $1,980. 2 in 1 Device The device unfolds like a wallet. It's essentially a 2 in 1 device.   It works as a traditional smartphone with a 4.6" screen.  Or, it can be unfolded into a tablet with a 7.3" screen.  The tablet can run 3 apps simultaneously on the screen. Sales Driver Samsung's smartphone sales were down 8% in 2018.  Global overall smartphone sales were down 4%.  Samsung's strategy with the Galaxy Fold is to motivate people to upgrade their phones for the new innovation.  The company also introduced three other phones including a smaller S10 model for  $750.

FlexPai Telephonic Innovation Source:  Royole FlexPai Tablet and Phone In One The world's first, flexible, bendable, foldable smartphone just debuted at the 2019 CES tech show in Las Vegas.  The phone folds out into a tablet and back into a phone. It can fold from 0 to 180 degrees. It's been under development for five years by a company named Royole based in Fremont, CA and is called the Royole FlexPai.
