Innovation from Korea Institute Source:  KICT - Korea Institute New App Enabled, Light Embedded Crosswalks This is one of those innovations with an elegantly simple concept addressing a big global need.  An app-enabled, light embedded crosswalk that could prevent pedestrian, runner and bike accidents especially at night. The LEDs are embedded on the ground.  It's been innovated by researchers at Korea Institute. Sensors and Electronics The system involves a lot of sensors and electronics that provide dual warnings to drivers and pedestrians.  To alert drivers that there is a passenger on the road, there is a thermal imaging camera that detects people as they approach the crosswalk.  It triggers a row of LEDs embedded in the road.  As the car approaches, an electronic sign also blinks as a warning. Driverless Car Trajectory Displays Source:  Jaguar Bars of Light to Protect Pedestrians and Build Trust Jaguar Land Rover has just developed a new projection technology that signals the car's intentions - specifically, where it is immediately going. The technology is designed to protect pedestrians by letting them know where the car is headed and also to build trust in driverless cars. On the Road Signals The system displays the vehicle's next moves by projecting a series of horizontal bars of light that shine onto the road surface ahead of it.
