 Space Balloons For a Leisurely Space Visit Source:  Space Perspective Space Trip With No Rockets & No Rocket Fuel Space Perspective, a human space flight company based in Cape Canaveral, Florida, is offering a unique space adventure.  Luxury balloon trips to 20 miles above the Earth into the stratosphere. There are no rockets and no rocket fuel involved.  The company says it is a safer and smoother way to experience the edges of space.  In fact, the approach is completely different from a rocket flight.  The space craft takes off at a leisurely pace of 12 mph.  A huge hot air balloon gently carries the passenger capsule aloft into the upper atmosphere and then gently returns it for a splashdown in the ocean, according to the company. SpaceX and Space Adventures Join Forces to Launch Tourists into Space Source:  NASA Image of Crew Dragon Orbiting High Above the International Space Station Elon Musk's SpaceX and Virginia based Space Adventures are joining forces to send four tourists on a dedicated Crew Dragon mission to space.  Crew Dragon is a completely  autonomous spacecraft developed by SpaceX with three windows.  The design and windows are aimed at providing tourists, scientists and astronauts with a great view of the earth, moon and solar system as they whisk through space. Branson's Virgin Galactic 1st Publicly Traded Space Tourism Company Source:  NYSE Listed on the NYSE Virgin Galactic is the first space tourism company to land on Wall Street.  It's listed on the NYSE as SPCE.  It began trading on Monday and right out of the launch pad it soared up 5% at its debut.  It has a market cap of $1 billion. This underscores the interest of investors and the public in space tourism. Founder & entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson  rang the First Trade Bell on Monday to commemorate the occasion.  Sir Richard commented:  "Now anyone can invest in the future of space". Space Tourism Plans Virgin Galactic has intergalactic plans. Space Tourism Headed to NYSE Source:  Virgin Galactic Space Plane World's First Listed Space Tourism Company Richard Branson is taking his space tourism company Virgin Galactic to the stock market to sell shares in the company.  His hope is the share price will go into intergalactic orbit.  Virgin Galactic will be the world's first space tourism company that's publicly traded.  He's doing this by merging with Social Capital Hedosophia, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange.  By merging with a listed company, Branson avoids the need and expense of an Initial Public Offering and investor road shows. Cash Flows The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2019.  Social Capital Hedosophia will acquire 49% of Virgin Galactic for an estimated price of $1.3 billion. Milestone for Sir Richard Branson Source:  Virgin Galactic - Unity Branson's Space Tourism Company Takes Off Virgin Galactic says its tourism spaceship just climbed more than 50 miles in altitude. The company considers that the boundary of space. Unity Virgin space ship Unity was released from a carrier aircraft over California's Mojave Desert early this morning and fired off its rocket engines for the journey into space. Two pilots were at the controls of Unity for the flight. Successful Landing After crossing into space at an altitude of 51 miles, Unity then began gliding down in its descent back to earth.  It landed successfully. Mission accomplished.  Virgin Galactic plans to take paying tourists on short trips to space, possibly within  a year.
