HYUNDAI'S BIG ELECTRIC VEHICLE PLANS

Targets Selling 1 Million EV's a Year by 2025 Source:  Hyundai Kona  Adding Big EV Production Lines Hyundai, the big automotive champion of hydrogen powered vehicles, has just decided to also aggressively go electric.  It's rapidly expanding its electric capacity to support selling $1 million electric vehicles  a year by 2025 and also grabbing a global EV market share over 10%. Hyundai's EV Offensive Hyundai has plans to introduce two production lines dedicated to electric vehicles.  One will go on line next year and another in 2024, according to an internal union newsletter obtained by Reuters.  Hyundai is also engaged in discussions with Samsung to secure batteries and other electronic components for the EV's.  EV car batteries are in short supply.  Samsung is a major battery supplier to Tesla and GM. EV Races Heating Up Hyundai, which owns Kia, is the world's 5th largest automaker.  It sold 86,434 battery EV's last year....

Samsung's Galaxy Fold Source:  Samsung Sells Out in South Korea & Coming to US and Europe Samsung launched its Galaxy Fold smartphone on Friday in South Korea and it proved to be a sell-out as soon as it went on sale.  The foldable smartphone that folds out into a tablet sold out in one day.  Another round of pre-ordering will start in South Korea on September 18th and it will be launched in the US in upcoming weeks. A First This is Samsung's first, foldable smartphone.  It includes 5G mobile connectivity.  It's priced at $2,000.  It will be going on sale in Germany, France and the UK within two weeks.  The US launch follows after that.  The device has been greatly anticipated.  An April launch was delayed by screen defects in samples. 3 Function Multitasker Patent Filed Samsung has a new smartphone that can expand to the size of a widescreen tablet.  The South Korean electronics company just filed a patent for the design.  It's called the Z-Fold smartphone and it's a three in one functional device.  Samsung first announced the device in February but has continued to work on the design.  Some of the details are unveiled in the patent. Samsung's New Folding Phone Nearly $2000 Source:  Samsung's Galaxy Fold Ringing in New Profits Samsung has unveiled its long anticipated smartphone with a foldable screen.  It's called the Galaxy Fold and will be released on April 26 for $1,980. 2 in 1 Device The device unfolds like a wallet. It's essentially a 2 in 1 device.   It works as a traditional smartphone with a 4.6" screen.  Or, it can be unfolded into a tablet with a 7.3" screen.  The tablet can run 3 apps simultaneously on the screen. Sales Driver Samsung's smartphone sales were down 8% in 2018.  Global overall smartphone sales were down 4%.  Samsung's strategy with the Galaxy Fold is to motivate people to upgrade their phones for the new innovation.  The company also introduced three other phones including a smaller S10 model for  $750.

Samsung's Giant, Vibrant Screens Source:  Samsung 98 " QLEDTV TV Like You've Never Seen Before Samsung has unveiled a 98 inch QLED television that runs 8K resolution.  The new TV, unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 this week in Las Vegas, was called by one journalist "truly breathtaking". Samsung hasn't announced the price or when it will be available.  Their current 85 inch 8K TV sells for $15,000.  Some experts project the new one will retail for $50,000 when it goes to market. Redefining Television Size and Shape Source: Samsung 75" 4K microLED TV Samsung also unveiled various microLED panels mounted to the wall that move between sections, changing and accepting images as they join together.  The system is unique and redefines television size and shape in a lego-like fashion.  This is a 75 inch 4K microLED TV with screen  "blocks" and "windows".  No pricing is available yet.
