US Presence Expected to Reinvigorate War Against Climate Change Source:  Polar Bear On Ice Fragment US Aggressively Pursues Net Zero Emissions The US today officially rejoined the Paris Climate Accords that former President Donald Trump withdrew from several years ago.  The move by the Biden Administration is expected to reinvigorate the fight against global warming.  President Joe Biden is planning dramatic CO2 emissions reductions over the next thirty years.  President Biden ordered the re-entry on his first day in office.  Today, it became official.  Nearly 200 nations signed the 2015 agreement.  Only the US withdrew with Trump saying fighting Climate Change would cost too much.  He also questioned the accuracy of the science behind it. Net Zero Emissions Goals As part of the re-entry, US Climate Envoy John Kerry is taking part in virtual events today including with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterra.  President Biden wants the US...

New Device to Combat Climate Change

Bioreactor That's More Effective Than 400 Trees Source:  Hypergiant Industries  Converts CO2 into Biofuel This is breakthrough new energy innovation to combat Climate Change.  The Eos Bioreactor pulls carbon dioxide from the atmosphere with greater efficiency than 400 trees.  The footprint is only 3x3x7 feet.  The creator is Hypergiant Industries of Texas. Algae & Tubes The machine is filled with tubes that contain algae.  The algae type chlorella vulgaris is able to absorb more CO2 than any other plant.  The algae consumes the CO2 and converts it into biofuels that can be harvested.  There's a great deal of intelligence behind the process. Artificial and Machine Intelligence Hypergiant Industries say their Eos Bioreactor is more efficient than trees - 400 times more effective in pulling out CO2 from the air in the same unit area.  They use artificial and machine intelligence to constantly monitor and manage a...

Carbon Hungry Plants

Fighting Global Warming With Plants Source:  Cornfield stock image $35 Million Project at the Salk Institute The Salk Institute in San Diego is on an "audacious" mission to greatly reduce global warming.  They're engineering genetically altered plants to store, at much higher levels, carbon dioxide from the air. The goal is to create plants that fight and reduce global warming.  Their groundbreaking research program is being funded by a $35 million grant from the TED Audacious Project. Food Crops Plants already store carbon dioxide from the air.  The Salk scientists' goal is to increase the storage particularly in the roots to keep it underground.  They believe that food crops can be engineered to store more carbon dioxide.  They're starting with large crops like corn. Once they perfect the re-engineered plants, their goal is widespread, global farming use.  They forecast that this innovative solution could remove 25% of the made-made carbo...

Artificial Leaves and Climate Change

New Artificial Leaves Convert CO2 into Oxygen 10X's Better Than Real Ones Source:  University of Illinois at Chicago Learning from Nature and Improving on It Leaves convert CO2 into oxygen making the world a greener place.   Learning from the natural process of photosynthesis, engineers at the University of Illinois at Chicago have improved on the natural process by ten times.  They've created innovative artificial leaves. Artificial Leaf Technology The engineers have invented an artificial, semipermeable membrane that allows water to evaporate in  sunlight.  During the process, the water pulls CO2 out of the air.  Then an artificial photosynthetic unit converts the CO2 into oxygen and carbon monoxide.  The carbon monoxide is collected and used to make synthetic fuels.  The oxygen goes back into the air. A First What's new and a first is this artificial leaf technology works outside in the real world and just like a natural leaf....

Vertical Forests - China's Greener World

Urban Forest Buildings:  China is Leading the Way Source:  Stefano Boeri's Vertical Forest Award Winning Architect & Innovator Stephano Boeri's Tree Towers A vertical forest is being built in Nanjing, China.  Two towers that will be loaded with trees, shrubs and plants are underway.  This is the invention of  award winning Italian architect Stefano Boeri. Nanjing Towers 1 is 656 feet tall with offices, a museum and green architectural school.  Tower 2 is a 354 foot tall Hyatt Hotel. The towers are seated on a 66 foot structure with shops and restaurants  The towers will be loaded with 1,000 trees and 250 shrubs and plants.  The greenery is selected for optimizing oxygen production to clean the air.  The promise is they will absorb 18 tons of carbon dioxide and contribute 16 tons of oxygen to the air per year. Green, Environmentally Friendly Growing Trend - Green Architecture There is growing international interest in the urban f...
