Two Concept Cars May Go Into Production:  Alpha 5 & Alpha 2 Source:  DeLorean Alpha 5 & 2 The Resurrection of the DeLorean Brand Luxury automaker DeLorean, which went bankrupt back in 1982, has been sold and is back in business with two stunning, new concept cars that it intends to put into production.  The DeLorean Alpha 5 is an EV that is designed to look like the original, classic DMC DeLorean with its gullwing doors and body of stainless steel.  The vehicle was unveiled recently in Pebble Beach, California. It has a range of 300 miles, a top speed of 155 miles per hour and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.99 seconds.  The Alpha 5 will have a 100-kWh battery which is bigger than that of a Porsche Taycan.  It will be a 2024 model and can be ordered for purchase, although the price hasn't been disclosed yet. CEO Oliver Zipse's Personal Commitment to Electric Vehicles                            Source: BMW Next Vision e-Car Concept 20% of All New BMW's Will be Electric by 2023 BMW CEO Oliver Zipse is putting BMW into overdrive for the production of electric vehicles.  The Germany based luxury car maker intends to build 1 million more electric cars than originally planned between 2021 and 2023.  It is a major commitment from the top leader of BMW to move in a very electric, zero emissions direction. Electric Charging Infrastructure Needed In 2020, 8% of all new BMWs sold are electric.  By 2023, CEO Zipse wants that electric vehicle number to hit 20% of all new vehicles sold.  To support the electric car and vehicle market, Zipse is calling for a dramatic increase in investment in electric charging infrastructure, both on a private and public basis.  His point is clear:  to support and...

BMW"S BIG NEW EV COMMITMENT

Fully Electric 5-Series Source:  BMW 5-series 2021 Big Green Lineup of Vehicles BMW announced today that it will offer a fully electric 5-series.  This is part of a major product overhaul to offer green, emissions free vehicles.  BMW wants to lower emissions both during the production of its vehicles and also when they are on global highways.  It is even tying executive compensation to its climate goals. BMW's 10 Year Plan By 2030, BMW targets having 7 million plus electrified BMW brand electrified vehicles on the road, 2/3rds of which are fully electric.  Their goals coincide with new European regulations that require carbon dioxide vehicle emissions be cut by 37.5% by 2030 as compared to 2021 vehicles. BMW's E-Rollout In 2021, BMW will have five, fully electric vehicles for sale, including the BMWi3, Mini Cooper SE, BMW iX3, BMW NEXT and BMWi4.  By 2023, BMW will offer 25 electrified vehicles, including half that will be fully electric. ...

VW Accelerating EV Production to Meet Growing Demand Source:  VW ID Crozz  Source:  Tesla Ahead of Electric Targets Volkswagen just announced it's way ahead of schedule in the production of electric vehicles.  In fact, it's two years ahead of its targeted numbers.  By the end of 2023, it will have produced 1 million electric vehicles.  It expects to have produced 1.5 million EVs by 2025.  These are important milestones for VW because the future of driving in the 2020's is accelerating toward EVs, These are vehicles that are all-electric with no emissions, green, clean and great for the global environment.
