Samsung has unveiled its long anticipated smartphone with a foldable screen. It's called the Galaxy Fold and will be released on April 26 for $1,980.
2 in 1 Device
The device unfolds like a wallet. It's essentially a 2 in 1 device. It works as a traditional smartphone with a 4.6" screen. Or, it can be unfolded into a tablet with a 7.3" screen. The tablet can run 3 apps simultaneously on the screen.
Sales Driver
Samsung's smartphone sales were down 8% in 2018. Global overall smartphone sales were down 4%. Samsung's strategy with the Galaxy Fold is to motivate people to upgrade their phones for the new innovation. The company also introduced three other phones including a smaller S10 model for $750.
