1 Seat Electric Aircraft that Flies 100 Miles & Is Ready to Go
Tetra Aviation of Japan has developed a breakthrough single-seat, lift and cruise eVTOL, the Mk-5, that can fly one traveler 100 miles with zero emissions and no noise. It's been under development for more than three years. It is sleek, ultra-tech, lightweight and ready to soar with you on board. The "buy-n-fly" personal aerial vehicle (PAV) is a commercial product scheduled for delivery to buyers in 2022. It's at the vanguard of a brand new form of zero emissions personal travel.
Tech Specs
There are two, long and thin fixed wings on the front and rear of the cabin with 32 vertical lift rotors distributed across them. And there is a horizontal thrust at the rear of the aircraft for forward, cruise flight. It weighs only 1,000 pounds without passengers and is 28.2 feet wide, 20.l feet long and 8.2 feet high. It is made of aluminum and carbon fiber reinforced polymer. The vehicle is powered by a 13.5 kWh battery that provides a top speed of 100 mph and a range of 100 miles. In this EV you could fly yourself from NYC to the Hamptons above summer traffic jams in under an hour .
Safety Features
For safety, the Mk-5 has three redundant flight controllers capable of redistributing power across the 32 vertical lift rotors in the event of a motor or flight control failure. There is also a ballistic parachute onboard to bail out of the aircraft.
Next Steps
Tetra says it will build and sell Mk-5 as a home-built experimental kit aircraft, which means that you will have to do some assembly work. The owner will need a private pilot's license to fly it in the US. Tetra also intends to sell it as a fully complete aircraft. Mk-5 is scheduled to go commercial and roll out in 2022. The vehicle is piloted by using a joystick and semiautonomous, fly by wire controls. The company says it is easy to fly and easy to manufacture and scale to mass production. And it is available now for pre-order. Tetra has not publicly disclosed the price as of yet.
