Brand New News World - AI News Anchor Out of Beijing
Being a television journalist, this international news anchor development really takes my attention.  China's state news agency Xinhua is debuting a virtual anchor to deliver the news 24 hours a day.  They call it their artificial intelligence "AI News Anchor" out of Beijing.

Robotic News
This AI robot anchor has been developed by Xinhua and the Chinese search engine company Sogori.  It simulates the human voice, facial expressions and gestures.  Xinhua says it learns from live broadcasting videos and can read just like a human professional.  

Is This the Future of News?
Not quite yet.  But it's a big trend.  Xinhua in China wants to cut news production costs and gain efficiencies with the robot.  They say you can use it on websites and social media platforms.  It's available in English and Chinese versions.  Globally, automated reporting is coming from many news sources including the AP.  Software information from football scores and corporate earnings are being churned out into reports that humans can understand.

Netting a Drone - US Army Countermeasure

US Army Invention - Drone Defense Source:  US Army Drone Netting Device Drone Netting Grenade U.S Army researchers have created a 40 mm grenade to protect the armed forces from menacing, enemy or rogue drones.  The defensive drone grenade takes out the drone with a weighted net. Countermeasure - Net Bagging a Drone The net is spring loaded and ejects from the front of the grenade when it nears the drone target.  The net can be triggered remotely by a person on the ground or automatically by an onboard proximity sensor.
