E-Plane Uses Significantly Less Fuel With Reduced Emissions

An important, global partnership has been announced in the development of electric powered aircraft.  Everett, Washington based MagniX and Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Desaer have formed a partnership to develop a hybrid electric plane for regional commuting.  The plane will be an electric hybrid version of Desaer's ATL-100 regional aircraft.  The hybrid electric propulsion system is being developed by MagniX.  The environmental importance of this new aviation technology is significant.  The companies say the new plane will operate with 25 to 40% less fuel consumption depending on the range.

Big Fuel and Emissions Savings

The new hybrid-electric plane will be good for the environment.  Called the ATL-100H, the aircraft will be powered by two MagniX 350 electric propulsion engine systems and two gas turboprop engines.  The engine configuration will result in up to 40% less fuel usage and consequently greatly cut greenhouse gas emissions.  The new aircraft will carry 19 passengers.  A gas fueled prototype will start flying in 2023.  And the commercial versions of the gas and hybrid electric regional commuting planes will hit the market in 2026.  They will likely start operations in Brazil.

Growing Global Electric Plane Market

MagniX has a growing global client base for its electric plane conversions, including Switzerland's H55, Canada's Harbor Air and the US seaplane company Blade.  It also won a $75 million NASA contract in September 2021 to develop and demonstrate electric propulsion systems for airplanes. And it is working with Israeli electric plane company Eviation on the new electric plane Alice. MagniX is US based but it is owned by Singapore based Clermont Group.  It is a leading-edge example of the global nature of developing new aviation technologies.  To take a look at the future of flying go to https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B093J89VF5&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_DWZXVD9NTW3WNH4BGGR9
