Hybrid Electric or V8

Great Britain-based Land Rover has unveiled a new Range Rover Sport SUV that is sporty, rugged and "stealth-like" according to the company.  The vehicle is the automaker's most popular model in the US, with 1 in 3 cars being sold in New York City, Los Angeles and Miami. In fact, since 2006, one-third of all Range Rover Sport models have been sold in the US. The new, revamped, 5th Generation 2023 Range Rover Sport does not disappoint.  It has sleek, smooth, sporty and muscular styling, is slightly more budget friendly and has a smaller, "modernist" design.  And it certainly is ruggedly "off-road" capable as pictured going through significant flooding.

Aerodynamically Designed

Range Rover claims that the new Sport is significantly more aerodynamic than many other vehicles, including the new Porsche 911. The Sport has a lower coefficient of drag than the legendary sports car.  For the ultimate in smooth rides, it contains the Dynamic Response Pro, which is switchable volume air springs that work with the car's air suspension.  The suspension uses navigation data to sense and adjust to road conditions ahead for a smoother ride. All Sport models have 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.  The company says the SUV has the turning capacity of a Mini Cooper.  It also has adaptive, off-road technology.

Engine Specs

The new Sport comes in 4 versions.  Prices start at $83,000 and go up to about $121,500 for the top model.  The Range Rover Sport SE and Range Rover Dynamic come with a 3.0-liter hybrid engine that delivers 355 hp and 360 pound-feet of torque in the SE and 395 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque in the Dynamic.  The Range Rover Sport P440e has a 6-cyliner engine paired with a 105-kilowatt electric motor and 31.8-kilowatt battery that delivers 434 hp.  The First Edition model comes with a twin turbocharged V8 and delivers 523 hp and 553 pound-feet of torque.  It goes from 0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds.  Recharge turnaround times are fairly quick at up to an 80% recharge in 1 hour.

All Electric Version Coming

In 2024, a totally electric version of the Sport will hit the market. Finally, the interior of the Sport is luxurious and largely made of sustainable materials.  The dashboard has a 13.1-inch infotainment touch screen as well as a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster.  There is an air purification system that reduces the presence of allergens, viruses, Covid, Sars and odors.  For more new stories like this, go to Daily Vehicle Briefing
