Royal Speeds Up to 205 mph

UK-based McLaren Automotive Limited has created a one-of-a-kind supercar to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the British throne. The vehicle is called "Platinum Jubilee Artura".  Instead of the standard McLaren badge on the nose of the vehicle, a special badge "ELIZABETH 11" is there.  The supercar was developed by the McLaren Special Operations group, which creates highly customized cars for special customers.  The vehicle is sleek, stylish, hybrid and very special.  The special platinum paint that covers the car took more than a week to precisely develop and perfect in various types of light.

High Performance Hybrid

The Elizabeth II is the brand's first series production, high performance hybrid.  It is sporty, elegant and lightweight at just 3,300 pounds.  Under the hood, is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that pumps out 577 hp and 431 foot-pounds of torque.  It's paired with an electric motor that provides an additional 94 hp and 161 foot-pounds of torque.  The supercar can accelerate to a blistering 205 mph and go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3 seconds.  On the electric motor along, it can hit 81 mph and has a range of 20 miles on a charge.  It is a one-of-a-kind car to honor a one-of-a-kind Queen, who happens to be Britain's longest reigning monarch.  Queen Elizabeth has some history with McLaren.  In 2004 she opened the McLaren Technology Center in Woking Surrey.  For more news stories, go to Daily Vehicle Briefing
