Polestar's First Electric SUV
Polestar 3 Made in & for US
Debuts in October 2022
Sweden-based EV maker Polestar will debut its first electric SUV, the Polestar 3, in October 2022. Polestar is a very hot, technologically advanced player in the global EV market. It is jointly owned by Volvo and Volvo's parent company Geely, based in China. The Polestar 3 is the company's first EV made in and made for the US and its very lucrative EV market. Polestar 3 is in the premium vehicle category and will be competing directly against the Porsche Cayan, Mercedes EQE, Tesla Model X and Audi's E-Tron. Polestar 3 will be manufactured at Volvo's factory in Charleston, South Carolina.
Highly Advanced Technologies
Polestar 3 has spectacular good looks, a sleek, sporty design, state-of-the-art safety technologies and very solid EV performance. Equipped with Luminar lidar sensors and Nvidia software, the Polestar 3 offers a partially autonomous driving system for hands-free highway driving. Instead of a traditional grill on the front of the vehicle, it has a "SmartZone" with cameras and sensors for collision avoidance. It has a dual-motor drivetrain with a large battery that provides a very decent range on a charge of 372 miles.
More Features
The front of the vehicle has a sharp, almost shark-like design with Y shaped headlights. There is an unusual aero pass-through that aerodynamically sends air over the hood and roof. The vehicle is all about zero emissions performance. It also contains a Google next-generation Android Automotive Infotainment system that's top of the line. Pricing starts at $70,000 and the vehicle goes into production next year.
Polestar Pipeline
Polestar currently has two vehicles on the market: the $155,000 hybrid coupe Polestar 1 and the Polestar 2 sedan. It plans to release the Polestar 4, a compact SUV, in 2023 and the Polestar 5 sports sedan in 2024. It also has a sleek electric roadster concept in the pipeline. Polestar is a company to watch. It is expected to go public and start trading shares later this year. For more news like this, Daily Vehicle Briefing
