IS PRE-SCHOOL WORTH IT?  MIT RESEARCH SAYS, YES

  • Ever wondered if the money you've spent or are spending to put your kids through pre-school or a "free", public pre-school opportunity is worth it, as many parents do
  • The answer from MIT researchers who followed thousands of Boston kids who went to pre-school is Yes and the educational & behavioral returns to the kids are big
  • MIT found that pre-school education increases the likelihood for the child to take the SAT's, go to college, exhibit much better behavior & more
  • In fact, the study found pre-school attendees went to college 18% more, right after high school graduation, than non-pre-schoolers
  • They also had fewer school suspensions, less absenteeism & fewer legal system problems
  • This is a 1st of its kind, long term study on the value of pre-schooling to instill creative, innovative thinking early in kids & a thirst to learn through pre-school and continue it right through college
  • The MIT data is of particular importance because a number of states are considering free, universal pre-schooling to give kids a competitive edge.

SWEET SOUNDS FROM HOUSE PLANTS

  • New scientific research from Tel Aviv University demonstrates that your favorite house plants and vegetables like tomatoes can talk and do talk with frequency
  • This is breakthrough scientific research involving the first time that plants have been recorded "talking" & different plants making their own distinctive sounds
  • Israeli scientists say they emit high decibel, ultrasonic popping sounds that are not audible to the human ear
  • The plant "talk" grows more frequent & louder when the plant becomes stressed and particularly dehydrated
  • While humans can't hear the awesome sounds coming from plants, scientists believe that other plants & even animals can hear it
  • This innovative scientific research is a first of its kind & was just published in the prestigious science journal Cell
  • The process by which plants talk is called cavitation, in which bubbles form and move through their vascular system and burst, making sounds like the popping of bubble wrap or popcorn
  • This is incredible science that provides new understanding about the plant world around us
  • It also opens the possibility of early warning systems, by sensors, picking up plant sounds, that they are in danger of needing hydration.
