  • It's an intriguing question.  For thousands of years, mankind has gazed at the sky and wondered if life exists elsewhere among the stars and the planets. But so far, there's no hard evidence of an alien making contact with us. Some luminaries weigh in:
  • Top British astronomer Lord Rees claims that most astronomers would bet life exists on other planets.  So why haven't they contacted us?  Some expert explanations:
  • Dr. Frederick Walton of Stony Brook University thinks aliens could be hiding because they're scared
  • Stephen Hawking warned aliens could be far more advanced than us; therefore, maybe we haven't given off any signs of intelligence worthy of their investigating
  • Dr. Gordon Gallup of the University of Albany has argued that aliens may be scarred of visiting us
  • My own humble opinion: we may be the universe's social pariah if they know about our bloody wars, threats of nuclear extinction, polluting and destroying our planet on a daily basis...would you want to deal with us?

NEW SCIENCE: YOUR MOVIE PREFERENCES SHOW HOW YOUR BRAIN IS WIRED

  • New scientific research shows that your preference in movies may not be a personal choice.  It reflects how your brain is hardwired.  Here's what we know:
  • Scientists have discovered that people who prefer comedy and action movies have more activity in the region of the brain linked to excitement and rewards
  • Those who prefer documentaries and thrillers do not have the same level of activity in that area of the brain
  • The thriller and documentary enthusiasts had increased activity in the attention and sensory area of the brain, suggesting they get gratification from intellectual stimulation
  • This just published research involved hundreds of participants and was conducted by German scientists
  • It's the 1st to directly connect personal preferences (in this case movies) and link them directly to areas of the brain
  • Bottomline:  people have go-to movie genres because they activate enjoyable reactions in certain regions of their brain.
