A proprietary device called KAALINK developed at the MIT Media Lab is the basis of this innovation. Air-Ink is the patent pending technology at the advanced prototype stage of Graviky Labs, an MIT spinoff.
Turning Pollution into Art
KAALINK is attached to the exhaust pipe of a car, vehicle or machine to capture the particulates. 45 minutes of exhaust produces 1 fluid ounce of ink. The captured pollution is processed to a purified, carbon-rich pigment that is used to create ink or paint.
