Green Camping
The Tesla Cybertruck is one of the most anticipated electric pickup trucks of the decade. Its bold design, speed, range and strong steel body have been heavily promoted by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The delivery date is promised for 2022. Now, thanks to a California startup composed of industrial designers and engineers, it has a new capability as a solar camper with a solar camper pod called FORM.
FORM
Form is a revolutionary camper made of carbon fiber that is compatible with all types of truck beds including the Ford F-150 Lightning and the radically designed Cybertruck. The company says it has maximum strength and durability with its carbon fiber shell enhanced with aluminum honeycomb material. It attaches to the truck and fits between the sides of the pickup bed. The pod has a full extension system that turns the truck into a tiny green powered home. It weighs 1000 pounds and does not put a lot of drag on the EV.
195 Sq. Feet of Living Space
The FORM offers 195 sq. feet of indoor and dry, outdoor living space including a kitchen, bathroom, high end appliances, a stove, refrigerator and more. The solar panels generate 400 watts of electricity. There is an osmosis water filtration system that can provide 100 gallons of fresh water and 50 gallons of storage. It also has a fan to control hot and cold air. The company says it takes 5 minutes to set the FORM up for use as a living space. The pod runs fully on a battery, either a 300 Ah deep cycle lithium-ion battery or the automotive pack of an EV like the Cybertruck or F-150 Lightning. Production starts in 2022 and the price starts at $49,500.
