Your Personal Flying Machine
Will the world's #1 electric car manufacturer Tesla invent a flying car? Given CEO Elon Musk's comments, it is very likely. Recently, Musk promised to equip his much-anticipated new Roadster sportscar with rocket engines to take-off and briefly fly. Now, we've learned that one of the world's hottest eVTOLs (electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles) - Jetson 1 - is powered by Tesla electric car battery cells. Swedish startup Jetson One is the inventor and developer of Jetson 1. This flying car can be ordered, doesn't require a pilot's or driver's license and has zero emissions. The vehicle has sold out its 2022 production line. 85% of the orders are from US customers. Customers can order a Jetson 1 for production in 2023.
Tech Specs
Jetson 1 is a flying car built for one passenger. It's a fully electric and largely autonomous flying machine that is in the "ultralight aircraft" category at 190 pounds and consequently doesn't require a pilot's license. It has a top speed of 63 mph, can hit an altitude of 1500 feet and can fly for 20 minutes on a charge. It combines drone and electric vehicle technologies. 8 electric rotors power the air vehicle which is comprised of aluminum and carbon fiber. Jetson One is working on expanding the range on a charge way beyond 20 minutes.
More Tech Details
The Swedish company says it takes just 5 minutes to learn how to fly Jetson 1 because it is so automated. There's a flight computer on board that does virtually all the flying and steering is by a fly by wire system which requires just two joysticks. There's a flight stabilization system with LIDAR sensors to avoid trees, wires and other obstacles. And the passenger/pilot can cut the throttle to zero so that the eVTOL lands itself. Jetson One says they've developed the vehicle in total compliance with FAA regulations. It cannot be flown near airports or densely populated areas. It can be flown in rural, remote areas like beaches and woodland areas for the passenger to have a fun and relaxing flight alone with nature. The vehicle is priced at $92,000. Jetson 1 is a one-of-a-kind new form of personal air mobility, taking to the skies in 2023. For more news stories like this, The Future of Flying
