Debuts at Pebble Beach

Kia just debuted a stunning new electric hatchback at the Monterey/Pebble Beach Car Show. The very hot, electric hatchback, EV6GT, is the fastest consumer car that Kia has created.  The EV is said by automotive experts to be affordable (Kia hasn't revealed the price). The EV6GT is faster and more powerful than some Italian sports cars and the EV6. It can hit 161 mph. In fact, Kia says that in a drag race, it beat a Ferrari Roma and a Lamborghini Huracan Evo.

Tech Specs

The electrified performance car can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. It pumps out 576 hp and 546 lb.-ft of torque.  It is Kia's top high performance electric model.  The 430-kW front and rear motor system is powered by a 77.4-kWh battery.  It also has a new Drift Mode that optimizes the motor, steering, brakes, suspension and more for dynamic, blistering acceleration and performance - all at the push of a button.  The estimated range on a charge is 206 miles and the EV has the capability of powering 80% of the battery capacity in 18 minutes. Some safety features include Highway Driving Assist II which keeps a set distance from the car in front and centers the car in its lane.  There is also a navigation-based Smart Cruise Control-Curve system, which proactively lowers the car's speed before upcoming curves in the road.

On the Market in Late 2022

Kia will launch the EV6GT in the US in late fall 2022. It's expected to be priced in the neighborhood of the EV6, which starts at $51,400. The EV is not just for drag-racing.  Experts say it is a very efficient and practical vehicle for normal tasks like taking the kids to school, driving to work and grocery shopping.  For more news stories like this, Daily Vehicle Briefing
