BMW'S BIG HYDROGEN BET

  • BMW has just launched its 1st 100 hydrogen-powered SUVs for demonstration and testing purposes in Germany
  • Called the iX5, the vehicle contains Toyota hydrogen fuel cells, BMW iX hardware and a small 2.0 kWh battery
  • The vehicles are being hand-built by BMW in Munich
  • They are the result of decades of BMW research into hydrogen powertrains
  • The HFCEV (hydrogen fuel cell EV) delivers 395 hp and a range of 310 miles, all while carrying 16 pounds of hydrogen fuel
  • The hydrogen BMW's will be available for sale by 2030
  • Western Europe is currently building a network of hydrogen fueling stations for hydrogen powered trucks and cars, while in the US, only parts of California have hydrogen fueling stations operational
  • BMW joins Toyota and Hyundai in developing hydrogen-powered vehicles for consumers.

AI RE-IMAGINES FAMOUS HOUSES FROM LITERATURE

Sherlock Holmes' Flat 221B Baker St.

"Pride and Prejudice" - Mr. Darcy's Estate

  • A cutting-edge AI (artificial intelligence) program called Midjourney is capable of bringing to life and re-creating some of the most famous and beloved houses in classic literature, such as Detective Sherlock Holmes' 221B Baker Street flat
  • Midjourney utilizes text-to-image software to produce amazingly detailed images of the residences by scouring text descriptions in the body of the novels
  • 221B Baker Street is one of the most well-known, imaginary residences in the world where Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr John Watson solved crimes throughout 60 stories
  • The AI generated images were created for an event in London to celebrate World Book Day 2023
  • Besides 221B Baker Street, the images include Mr. Darcy's Pemberley House from Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice"
  • This is a very artistic example of the growing innovative applications of AI across global disciplines and industries.

  • Tesla has developed a new AI robot called Optimus
  • CEO Elon Musk says the same AI that powers Tesla cars will be used to make Optimus function
  • Musk forecasts that AI robots will become a bigger business than cars
  • Optimus will be deployed at Tesla in the next few years to perform various tasks like manufacturing and transportation
  • The AI bot is capable of walking, carrying objects, using tools & manufacturing Tesla bots
  • Some robotic experts believe that AI robots like Optimus could be much more efficient and cost effective to produce goods and thereby revolutionize the manufacturing industry
  • Musk says Optimus is designed to work in tandem with employees to augment their capabilities rather than replace them, adding that it will create more jobs than cut jobs
  • Musk has purposefully kept the robot at a weight of 125 pounds, a speed of up to 5mph, with the capability of carrying up to 45 pounds to make it more user friendly.
