  • Apple has just filed for a US patent on a highly advanced Augmented Reality (AR) car windshield, which strongly suggests that it continues to work on its highly secretive Apple car and that it's placing big bets on the future of AR
  • Here's what we know:
  • Apple has been working on this cutting-edge technology that projects virtual images onto the full, transparent windshield over the real outside world rolling by
  • It displays, like a video game, pertinent driving information
  • It turns the windshield into an entire new piece of technology
  • Patent mentions technologies behind this like:
  1. Radar
  2. Geographical positioning device
  3. Variety of sensors
  4. Variety of visual light and infrared cameras
  5. Ultrasonic and light-based scanning devices
  6. All of the technologies combine to form the 3D images
  • Information to be displayed include:
  1. Real-time environment
  2. Objects on the road
  3. Speed, suspension & other vital car data
  4. If children are near the car and if you're near a school zone
  5. Outline to your destination and time to get there
  6. Relevant street and traffic signs
  • Another new piece of tech in the patent - FaceTime app that syncs conversations in the car or with people in another car
  • This is unique AR technology that experts say could be a very significant breakthrough
  • Some automakers like Mercedes are incorporating AR into their vehicles, but so far containing it to the infotainment displays
  • Apple recently introduced a powerful new AR headset.

  • Buick just unveiled the latest iteration of its highly acclaimed concept, the Wildcat EV; its design is Buick's future
  • Here are some key facts:
  1. Wildcat EV is a stunning fastback coupe that heralds the future of automotive design by Buick
  2. It's all-electric
  3. 2+2 seating
  4. Sleek, stunning design with a low, wide stance and wraparound glass
  5. Modernistic cabin with "Zen Mode" that includes light dimmer, aromatherapy scents and massaging seats
  6. 3-spoke steering wheel and huge display that house infotainment and digital cluster displays plus another screen on a floating center console
  7. The EV features "a forward leaning front with a low mounted trapezoid grille and high-mounted check-mark-shaped lights that bracket it"
  • We don't know if GM will put the Wildcat into production but the design is so important to them they just released a video on the latest version of the concept.

COULD AI ROBOTS BE THE FUTURE OF ELDER CARE?

                                                                        Source:  Stock

  • AI is a huge, rapidly deploying technology across industries & expected to be a $2 Trillion market by 2030
  • For AI a big avenue of opportunity is elder care & here are some key facts:
  1. At a robotics conference in Geneva, roboticist Nadia Magnenant Thalmann said she believes AI robots will provide better and more efficient elder care than humans for many reasons
  2. AI robots are available 24/7 to be with & monitor patients and provide care
  3. They can fill in for the human worker shortage
  4. AI robotic capabilities are significant and expanding to provide care and companionship to elderly and sick patients
  5. Example - AI robot Nadine, a social humanoid AI-powered robot inspired by Nadia Thalman, is very capable of talking, singing and playing bingo with nursing home residents as demonstrated at a nursing home in Singapore
  6. Paro, a baby seal robot specifically designed for patients with Dementia and Parkinson's Disease was also showcased at the Geneva conference
  7. Grace, a robotic nursing assistant to help care for the basic needs of elderly patients, was also highlighted
  • Robotic caregiving in healthcare is a megatrend to watch develop, along with building trust through the validation of AI algorithms for safety, efficacy and security.
