Fiat Chrysler + Renault

Proposed Merger of  Equals

Surviving Together Through Massive Technology Change
Fiat Chrysler is pressing its argument for a merger of equals with Renault, taking its case to Renault's corporate leadership.  The $35 billion merger is aimed at dealing with the massive technology upheaval in the automotive industry, including autonomous and electric cars.  The combination of the two companies would result in the world's third largest automaker.

By the Numbers
The merger would result in an entity capable of making 8.7 million vehicles a year and generate a projected $5.6 billion in savings per year.  The prospects for the merger look good at the moment.  The French government is looking favorably on the deal and Renault views it as a friendly offer.  If the merger does take place, it could spark more industry mergers.  Both GM and Peugeot recently held inconclusive talks with Fiat Chrysler, an Italy-USA company.
