Owning a Dog is in Your Genes
This is fascinating and very substantive research based on 35,035 pairs of twins from the Swedish Twin Registry, which is the world's largest. Uppsala University along with scientists from the University of Liverpool studied whether being a dog owner is a hereditary trait. their research pool was the thousands of twins.  They concluded that owning a dog is in your genes.

Man's Best Friend
Their study of the 35,000 plus pairs of twins and their dog ownership documented that the choice of owning a dog is heavily influenced by your genetic makeup.  The scientists say genetic variation explains more than half of the variation in dog ownership among the group of twins studied. For 15,000 years, dogs have been companions to mankind.  That's a lot of history, loyalty and heredity on both sides.
