Hovers and Turns Like a Hummingbird
Purdue University researchers have developed a drone that has been taught to maneuver like a hummingbird.  It hovers and makes quick turns in flight.  It's important new technology for difficult to get to places in search and rescue and surveillance.  It can nimbly travel through the air, debris and crowded spaces.  It's enabled by artificial intelligence.

Machine Learning
The robotic hummingbird was trained on machine learning algorithms based on hummingbird flying techniques.  The robot is able to develop maps as it tracks and touches surfaces and doesn't need a camera.  The little robots have 3D printed bodies, wings made of carbon fibers and laser cut membranes.  They range in weight from 12 grams which is the average weight of a male, hummingbird to 1 gram, which is insect sized.  The team expects to add sensing technology like cameras and GPS to their new robots.  For a free borrow of my latest book "List of Top New Gadgets", go to amazon.com/author/ekane  ASIN: B07RSLHMWK
