New Water Sport - Wheeebo

Powered Board "Water Gadget"

From Japan at  Speeds Up To 3&1/2 MPH
This looks like a fun new piece of technology.  It's a powered standup board to skim across the water.  It's called the Wheeebo and was invented by Japanese manufacturer Yanmar, that is well known for marine engines.  Yanmar calls it an "on-water gadget".

Stand-Up Board
The Wheeebo is a round, saucer like board that is 145cm in diameter.  It has a battery powered engine.  The user steers it by shifting their weight on the board to go in the direction they want.  Sensors detect the weight shift and adjust propellers under the board.  Top speed is 3&1/2 mph.  There are two acceleration speeds which the user controls by a hand held remote.

Calm Waters
The Wheeebo is designed for lakes and bodies of water that are relatively calm.  The company says it's very easy to use.  Yanmar intends to continue testing it this year and make it available to consumers in 2020.  The battery on the board lasts for an hour before needing a recharge.  For more news stories on all types of travel innovation, check out "How to Travel in the Future" Vol. 1&2 at amazon.com/author/ekane for a free borrow and sample read ASIN: B07MY8C3HG and ASIN: B07JCQ4J78
