A Taxi with Something for Everyone

The Japan Taxi that Toyota has developed for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo was originally designed by a government committee.  The result is a very complex and expensive vehicle whose purpose is to please everyone.  The price-tag is nearly $32,000, which is 33% more expensive than its predecessor.

Hybrid Loaded with Extra Tech - Anti-Virus Protection
Japan Taxi is a hybrid, liquified petroleum powered vehicle.  It contains some very sophisticated technology including anti-virus air conditioning and many anti-collision sensors. It has wheelchair ramps, smart phone chargers, seat warmers and a lot more.  Its purpose is to comfortably accommodate wheelchair users, tourists loaded with luggage and people of all sizes.

Olympics 2020
The Olympic Games in Tokyo start in July 2020.  Toyota hopes the Japan Taxis will replace 10,000 of Tokyo's 30,000 taxis by then.  Both the Games and the taxis are budget busters.  The Games are expected to cost Japan $6.7 billion, twice the original estimate. And the taxis are becoming a financial symbol of expensive transit to the Tokyo Games.
