Citroen's "Perfect Beach Car"
Electric Beach Buggy From France
Super Citroen
My Ami Buggy
French automaker Citroen has unveiled, what it calls, its "beach car of the future". It's a two-seater with a fully electric, 8 hp motor, powered by a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Called My Ami Buggy, it's designed for outdoorsy adventure and fun. The electric dune buggy is small and minimalistic with no doors. It echoes the beach car spirit of the 1960's and 1970's. Instead of an infotainment display, there is a small digital cluster and a cradle for a smart phone. There is storage space for items. The accessories in the EV are 3D printed. My Ami can hit a maximum speed of 30 mph and has a driving range of 43 miles. Under French law, it is not classified as a car, so anyone over 14 years old can drive it without a license.
Dune Buggy of the Future
The tiny buggy concept is based on Citroen's new, city-only Ami electric microcar, which is available in Europe and is coming to the US. Citroen says the more rugged My Ami is designed for customers who are "adventurers on the road and beach tracks". In the event of rain or other types of inclement weather, there are transparent canvas "curtains" that can be rolled up and down to protect the occupants. The EV has a chunky set of off-road tires for beach and other off-road adventures. There is a LED light display on the roof with a built-in speaker for playing your favorite music. There is a spare tire on the roof, grills over the front lights and taillights and a brush guard to protect the EV offroad. No word from Citroen on when the vehicle might go into production and what the price might be. But the company says this is their vision of the perfect dune buggy of the future.
