The Zero Emissions Moonbike
MoonBike is the world's first, all-electric snow bike. From French startup MoonBikes Motors, the electric snow bike is nearly silent and is ultralight. It can hit 26 mph and runs for an hour and a half on a single charge. Besides looking very cool and providing fun rides in the snow, the e-snow bike is also emissions free.
Dashing Through the Snow
MoonBikes says their vehicle blurs the lines "between recreation and transportation". You can have fun with it driving, dashing and cutting through the snow. And it can serve as a new way to move around at a ski resort or to travel across snowy backcountry areas. MoonBike is a zero emissions cross between an electric bike and a snowmobile. According to the company, it's a means to have some great fun in the snowy outdoors without "compromising it" with CO2 emissions. The vehicle was introduced at CES 2022 and is considered a very hot new product. Pricing starts at $8500.
Easy to Ride and Eco-Friendly
MoonBike is much lighter, more streamlined and a lot smaller than a snowmobile, which are powered by gas. In fact, it can pass through a regular door for storage and can be transported in the bed of a pickup truck. The company says it is "easy for anyone to ride" because of its low center of gravity and easy controls. It can also handle inclines of 40% on groomed slopes and snowfalls up to 11.8 inches (30 cm).
Tech Specs
MoonBike is essentially a moped mounted on a track and ski. The 2.5 kWH battery provides 1.5 hours of range in eco-mode and l hour in sport mode. With an optional extra battery, the range goes up to 3 hours of snow biking. It takes 3 hours to charge with a fast charger.
