Riding With Ease on 3 Wheels

Oregon startup Arcimoto has created a radical new, full suspension, 3-wheel direct drive electric trike that has the flexibility and the agility of a traditional bike. It's being called the world's most highly engineered e-bike.  The vehicle tilts as it corners like a bike but has the stability of a 3-wheeler. Called the Mean Lean Machine (MLM), the vehicle is designed to compete against and beat the growing, global, multi-billion dollar two-wheel electric bike market.  The MLM has all-wheel drive, world class tilting technology, a pedal generator for speed control and stationary recharging.  It is getting rave reviews from biking experts.

Patented Tilting Technology

The MLM is loaded with innovative technologies developed by Arcimoto. The unique suspension system that enables the trike's nimbleness is a marvel of engineering.  3-wheelers are notoriously difficult to maneuver.  The Mean Lean Machine is clearly different.  It is designed to provide the rider with much more flexibility and biking fun through its patented tilting technology.  The vehicle tilts into turning, has pedals and has a generator for drive by wire. There are hub motors on all three wheels which provide enhanced stability and traction.  The bike also has a stationary fitness bike mode, which is another big plus.

Technology Details

Arcimoto's unique suspension system design enables the 3-wheeler to smoothly tilt into corners on virtually any type of terrain while providing stability and a smooth ride.   The Mean Lean Machine is built on a patented tilting technology that keeps the bike stable while leaning and allows the rider to seamlessly switch positions during their ride. The company says their tilting technology provides the rider with increased safety, stability and the fun of a traditional bike ride. The electric vehicle also has a unique pedal generator that controls the speed. It works instead of a regular throttle to determine how quickly the rider is pedaling versus how much power they are using from the hub motors to drive the trike.  Also, the pedal generator lets the rider recharge the battery by pedaling during their ride.

The Lean Mean Machine

The new bike has a 200-mile range with an auxiliary battery.  According to the company, it has enough room for two people.  The e-trike will be available for purchase in the fall/winter of 2022 and can be reserved for purchase with a $100.00 deposit.  The company hasn't released a price yet but will later this year.  If you enjoyed this blog, for access to more travel news go to https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B08S958SBV&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_N7NQ7V2A9FX1F6PYZBN9
