Source:  VOLT AERO

  • VoltAero has developed an electric-hybrid plane that flies on biofuel produced from wine waste.  Their aircraft Cassio S just made aviation history.  Here's what we know:
  1. France-based VoltAero just achieved the world's 1st flight of an electric-hybrid plane powered by 100% sustainable fuel from vineyard wine waste
  2. The Cassio S testbed plane has a proprietary electric hybrid powertrain
  3. The fuel is 100% sustainable and produced by France's TotalEnergies
  4. The historic flight used the hybrid powertrain's electric mode and its internal combustion engine was fueled by bioethanol produced from wine
  5. The company says it flew with an 80% CO2 reduction
  6. The milestone flight is a major advancement for the use of SAF or sustainable aviation fuel/biofuels in general aviation
  7. First production aircraft will be the Cassio 330 with 4 or 5 seats
  8. Second production plane will be the Cassio 480 with 6 seats
  9. The aircraft is designed for passenger and cargo service in particular.

  2. The robots recognize faces and voices and can communicate, including by voice
  3. They mimic pets and give hugs
  4. Previous studies show seniors with companion robots are less lonely
  5. The Canadian study focused on how the robots and elders interact
  6. Seniors can be helped by robots to cope with their emotions and reduce stress through guided meditation and relaxation
  7. The next step in this University of British Columbia study is to record the interaction of elders and robots
  8. Ultimately, the goal of this study is to inform the best direction of AI robot elder care
  • As the world ages, companion robots may be the creative solution for healthcare, caregiving and loneliness for seniors.
