Source: Stock
- Scientists from Nagoya University in Japan have discovered how to diminish and even eliminate anger during stressful situations. Here are some key facts:
- Previous anger management methods include:
- Take deep breaths
- Go for a run
- Scream into a pillow
- Nagoya University study has resulted in a new & innovative approach:
- Participants were asked to write an opinion piece on a social issue
- They received negative comments on what they wrote
- Then they were asked to write down their feelings about the insulting comments they received
- One group kept their written notes; the other disposed of their written thoughts
- Net result: while all were angry, those who threw out their thoughts, eliminated their anger almost entirely
- Upshot: Imagine the fun you can have:
- Keep a notepad in your pocket and tell your family, friends and co-workers what it's for
- Give them a jaunty, knowing look and keep taking the notebook out and write furiously as they're talking
- Bet they'll shut-up and give the floor back to you!
Real science you can use!
