WORLD'S LARGEST DIGITAL CAMERA CAN PHOTOGRAPH A GOLF BALL 15 MILES AWAY

  • The new Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) camera will help reveal the mysteries of dark matter and dark energy.  Here's what we know:
  • It's a 3,250 megapixel camera, built over the past 20 years by scientists and engineers at Stanford University
  • It weighs 6,600 pounds
  • Front lens measures more than 5-feet
  • Now complete, it will sit in the Vera C. Rubin Observatory in Chile, on a nearly 9,000-foot mountaintop
  • It will produce a stunning and informative map of the night sky
  • Contains 200 sensors for high resolution
  • Its images of billions of stars could help unlock the secrets of the universe
  • Main job:  to map locations and the brightness of a huge selection of objects
  • Let's hope they don't try to shoot my golf ball...it too often goes off-course!

  • Apple is exploring a big, new business line - home robots.  Here are a few key facts:
  • Apple is developing 2 home robots
  • One is mobile and can follow users around the house
  • The other is a robot with a smart display
  • Apple sees home robots as a potentially big business line for the company as it looks for its "next big thing"
  • The smart display robot would sit on a tabletop and rotate its smart display like a human head, presumably to always be in position to be read by the nearby user
  • It would also contain a feature to zoom in on a person during a multi-person videocall
  • This new product line follows Apple's decision to abandon its electric, self-driving car project that it invested ten years into
  • Experts say the Safety OS to autonomously drive the Apple car could be repurposed for the new home robots.

Massachusetts based startup Artech's water paddleboard is a  new, green innovation. It's made from reclaimed and recyclable polyethylene, making it good for the environment. The board is ten feet long and takes less than 60 seconds to snap together. Enjoying the Environment and Not Hurting the Environment Easy Eddy weighs 37 pounds and fits into most cars, SUVs and boats. And it can support weights up to 200 pounds. Netting a Drone - US Army Countermeasure

US Army Invention - Drone Defense Source:  US Army Drone Netting Device Drone Netting Grenade U.S Army researchers have created a 40 mm grenade to protect the armed forces from menacing, enemy or rogue drones.  The defensive drone grenade takes out the drone with a weighted net. Countermeasure - Net Bagging a Drone The net is spring loaded and ejects from the front of the grenade when it nears the drone target.  The net can be triggered remotely by a person on the ground or automatically by an onboard proximity sensor.
