Microsoft just released its HoloLens 2 device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.  It's a smaller, more powerful version of the AR headset with a much larger field of view.  The company hails this augmented reality device as part of a new era in computing.  A time when the digital world goes beyond 2D screens into the 3D digital world.  They say the device will enable new collaborative computing, working together with ease in real-time in 3D.

Here are the Advancements Microsoft is Touting:


  • Immersion that is greatly enhanced making holograms more vibrant and realistic. They've doubled the field of view in HoloLens 2.  It has a new display system with greater performance.  It also has a new time-in-flight depth sensor, combined with built-in AI and semantic understanding, that let's you manipulate holograms in augmented reality like real objects.
  • Comfort is enhanced by the device that is more balanced, lighter and can be put on with no readjustments.
  • Time-to-Value is accelerated by Microsoft mixed reality apps.

HoloLens2 will be available this year at $3500.
