Quiet, Well Funded Start-up
California based startup Joby Aviation is building an all-electric flying taxi.  The working prototype is a megadrone that reaches speeds of 200 mph and takes off and lands vertically.  If you haven't heard much about this company, it is purposeful.  It's a quiet startup, with very advanced technology that it's undoubtedly protecting. The aircraft are parked at a secret, private field. The founder and CEO is renowned engineer JoeBen Bevirt who is a pioneer in the development of novel aircraft designs, powered by electric propulsion.

Big Money Backers
The company has big backers including Toyota and Intel.  It has $100 million in funding.  The megadrone Joby S2 has 16 propellers, 12 of which are designed for vertical takeoffs and landings.  It's powered by lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide batteries.  Joby joins a growing list of aspiring flying taxi developers including Airbus, Uber and EHang, which just successfully demonstrated its EHang 216 VTOL flying taxi in Vienna, Austria. Experts predict you'll be hailing a flying taxi within the next 10 years.
