Audi has just unveiled its Grandsphere concept vehicle.  It's a luxurious, electric, long form (17.6 feet) sedan that's a self-driving living room on wheels. This "2+2" seater is a completely new mobility vehicle with transformative technologies. The EV uses Level 4 self-driving technology, which provides fully autonomous driving under certain conditions.  It has a fully electric drive system.  When driving autonomously, the interior transforms into a living space with the most advanced digital technologies.  Audi says that Grandsphere passes beyond an automobile into an "experience device".  The technologies and design features of this new Audi concept are not just theoretical.  They are expected to be in future Audi series.  And, Audi is promising extensive "personalization" and customization of the interiors for owners.

How Does It Work?

When you activate the driverless mode, the Grandsphere retracts the wheel and pedals, opening up more space. Recessed displays on wood panels offer the occupants the opportunity to enjoy media and new programming or participate in video conferences.  There are Audi MM1 controls if you're sitting upright or you can use gestures and eye tracking to engage the infotainment system if your seat is in a reclining position.  There are also VR glasses in the armrests to have an immersive experience with the media and entertainment.  Clearly, Grandsphere is at the cutting edge of connected technology on autonomous wheels.

Tech Specs

The vehicle has a 120 kWh battery with a range of 466 miles.  An 800 volt charging system can provide the EV 186 miles of range in 10 minutes.  Grandsphere is part of a series of Sphere concept cars that Audi is unveiling to showcase its perspectives on future technologies at the forefront of automotive innovation.  Like the previously unveiled Skysphere, which is a driver's car with an autonomous option, the Grandsphere is a technology showcase for Audi's vision of the future of driving and travel. Netting a Drone - US Army Countermeasure

US Army Invention - Drone Defense Source:  US Army Drone Netting Device Drone Netting Grenade U.S Army researchers have created a 40 mm grenade to protect the armed forces from menacing, enemy or rogue drones.  The defensive drone grenade takes out the drone with a weighted net. Countermeasure - Net Bagging a Drone The net is spring loaded and ejects from the front of the grenade when it nears the drone target.  The net can be triggered remotely by a person on the ground or automatically by an onboard proximity sensor.
