Brain Computer Interface at Work

Mercedes Benz, at the IAA Mobility 2021 show in Munich, unveiled a concept car that redefines the relationship between car and driver.  With its Vision AVTR, Mercedes has innovated an electric concept car controlled by the driver's thoughts.  The car uses a brain-computer interface to record a driver's brain waves by wearable electrodes attached to the head.  Mercedes has partnered with Disney on this concept car, which was inspired by Disney's Avatar.  The Vision AVTR is all electric, zero emissions with a 350 kW electric engine.

How Does It Work?

According to Mercedes, the brain-computer interface (BCI) calibrates the measured brain waves and performs a function, such as changing the radio station or diming the ambient lights in the car.  The vehicle also has biometric interaction with the driver.  This is triggered when the driver puts their hand on an element on the central console.  The car recognizes the driver through their heartbeat and breathing.  That connection turns on interior functionality such as displays on the car's console.

More Highly Advanced Automotive Technologies

The Vision AVTR is sleek, colorful and futuristic with incredibly advanced engineering.  The car has innovative all wheel drive that allows each wheel to drive separately and drive sideways when needed.  There are also 33 moveable "bionic flaps" that serve as solar plates and provide the car with extra energy from the sun.  The Vision AVTR pushes the limits of automotive innovation and imagination.  It is a fascinating look at the exciting potential of the future of travel.  To take a look at more fascinating concept vehicles, go to https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B09CN2QWT4&preview=newtab&linkCode=kpe&ref_=cm_sw_r_kb_dp_1KE1HPA393QW348KHPA3
