TESLA IS CREATING WORLD'S FASTEST ACCELERATING CAR
Source: Tesla
- Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk disclosed on Twitter that he intends to deliver a new Tesla Roadster that can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 1 second. That would be a world record! Big question: Is that possible?
- Some automakers including Bugatti and Rimac have done computer simulations and say it is possible
- It likely would require thrusters on the car, which Musk has talked about in the past
- Thrusters present their own challenges including the weight and drag on range they would pose for an electric car
- Musk isn't disclosing how he's going to do it
- Rimac Nevera holds the current acceleration record of 1.7 seconds
- The 2nd generation Roadster will be unveiled later this year.
- Tesla says the top speed will be 250 mph
- Range will be 620 miles
- Before Musk's latest remarks, Tesla was aiming for 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds
- Tesla hopes to start delivering the next-G Roadster to customers in 2025
- It could be the fastest accelerating car on the road!
