NUCLEAR FUSION BREAKTHRU - HOTTER THAN SUN
Source: Stock & Tokamak Energy
- Nuclear fusion, considered the Holy Grail of energy production, is closer to reality
- A nuclear fusion reactor was heated to 100 million degrees Celsius, which is hotter than the Sun, and reached the "magic figure" for nuclear fusion
- It just happened in the United Kingdom at Tokamak Energy using a compact, "spherical tokamak" reactor called ST40
- Nuclear fusion reactors mimic the energy producing process of stars like the Sun
- The 100-million-degree threshold is where hydrogen atoms begin to fuse into helium and release sustainable energy that could eliminate the need for fossil fuels
- Tokamak is developing a nuclear fusion reactor to connect with the British national grid in the 2030's
- Tokamak is working with Princeton Plasma Physics Lab on this breakthrough energy system that currently is 13 feet tall and 3-feet wide
- Nuclear fusion offers the potential of creating massive amounts of energy that are emissions free and sustainable.
AI CREATES ANTIBIOTIC AGAINST DEADLY BACTERIA
- Using artificial intelligence (AI). scientists at McMaster University in Canada have discovered a new antibiotic that appears to be highly effective against a deadly hospital superbug
- The breakthrough is against one of the world's most dangerous, drug resistant bacteria - A baumannii - which exists on hard hospital surfaces, and is known to cause pneumonia, meningitis and wound infections, that can lead to death
- The AI assessed hundreds of millions, if not billions, of molecules and spotted a new compound which the Canadian scientists named Abaucin
- The new antibiotic appears to be a major breakthrough and is going through regulatory testing but some scientists are already saying this development validates the benefits of AI and machine learning in the search for new antibiotics.
