AI GENERATING 3D WORLDS FROM 2D VIDEOS

  • New technology from California-based, AI chipmaker NVIDIA is capable of creating full-scale 3D objects like Michalangelo's David sculpture solely from 2D short videoclips
  • The AI software is called Neuralangelo
  • It's capable of generating life-like replicas of buildings, sculptures and much more, allowing for the recreation of the real world in the digital world
  • The AI tool is being hailed for its authenticity and ability to capture fine details
  • 3D generation is one of the most difficult and complicated tasks that AI is attempting to master
  • Experts say the Neuralangelo software has moved the process considerably ahead.

REASON FOR CANCER-FREE LIVES OF BOWHEAD WHALES

  • Global scientists are studying Bowhead whales to determine why they live over 200 years and are almost cancer free
  • Their goal is to determine how humans might enjoy the same longevity and cancer resistance
  • New research findings from scientists at the University of Rochester in New York found that the whales, which are native to the Arctic, have a rare ability to repair their damaged DNA which, in turn, slows the aging process
  • Despite averaging 80 tons with a huge number of cells, Bowheads are not prone to cancer
  • Scientists found they have high amounts of 2 proteins - CIBP & RPA2, which are integral to the DNA repair process
  • Humans have a much less developed DNA repair process than the whales
  • Scientists want to determine what makes the whales' process so efficient & possibly find applications for human longevity and cancer prevention.

Netting a Drone - US Army Countermeasure

US Army Invention - Drone Defense Source:  US Army Drone Netting Device Drone Netting Grenade U.S Army researchers have created a 40 mm grenade to protect the armed forces from menacing, enemy or rogue drones.  The defensive drone grenade takes out the drone with a weighted net. Countermeasure - Net Bagging a Drone The net is spring loaded and ejects from the front of the grenade when it nears the drone target.  The net can be triggered remotely by a person on the ground or automatically by an onboard proximity sensor.
