Michelin & GM Innovation Partnership

The Uptis - Reinventing Tires
The Uptis is a non-inflating replacement for tires.  It eliminates the risk of blowouts and flat tires.  It's a new innovation created by GM and Michelin and is now in the prototype testing stage.  Michelin and GM expect to have it on the market for consumer vehicles by 2024.

Fiberglass
The tires are made from Michelin's patented, resin embedded fiberglass material.  Michelin and GM say the Uptis is a safer and more stable alternative to air inflated tires.  It also requires near zero maintenance.  The companies call it the next generation of airless wheel technology for passenger vehicles.  For a free Kindle borrow of my book "List of Best New Innovations", go to amazon.com/author/ekane  ASIN: B07NTWC3FW

E-Friendly
The team points out that there are tremendous environmental savings.  Specifically by cutting the use of raw materials for replacement tires and spare tire production.  No guidance on pricing has yet been provided.
