Innovations Come Mostly From Start-Ups

Intel's vision of the future of innovation drives their new program IGNITE.  They are starting the program to support, guide and mentor promising tech, early stage startups in Israel.  But Intel intends to expand this innovation incubator project to other countries.  It's an important notion from CEO Brian Swan that today's breakthrough innovations aren't coming from big global companies but from the insights, drive and passion of inventors with unique ideas that are creating early stage start-up companies. It's innovation at the very cusp. The focus dovetails Intel's interests:  AI, autonomous driving systems and data centric technologies.

Intel in Israel
Intel, which is US based, is one of the biggest employers and exporters in Israel, where many of its new technologies are being developed.  It is also a company changing focus from a chipmaker for PC's to a data driven organization offering a wide variety of products and services.  The lineup of Intel's new innovations includes drones, cloud-based technologies, semiconductors and sensors for driverless cars.

Innovation Incubator Details
IGNITE starts later this year in Israel and then expands to other countries.  In Israel, Intel will host 15 startups for a 20 week infusion of Intel global market access, business and technology expertise  to help the startups glide into growth.  The companies don't have to provide equity or IP shares.  Intel is giving them a takeoff point.  If the take-off works, Intel may invest in them in the future.
