CLIMATE CHANGE: BRINGING MY FAVORITE COFFEE BEANS TO EXTINCTION?
Source: Stock
- By 2050, Climate Change will have rendered unproductive half of the land currently used to grow high quality coffee. Here's what we know:
- Higher temperatures threaten coffee bean growth
- Scientists are searching for a wild grown bean that is heat and drought resistant
- 60 of the world's 120+ coffee bean varieties could become extinct
- One possible solution: a coffee plant discovered in Sierra Leone that is heat and drought tolerant
- Called Stenophylla - a blind taste test by coffee connoisseurs showed over 80% couldn't tell the difference between Stenophylla and Arabica, the world's most popular coffee
- Among the many horrors of Climate Change, including the sunburning of Antarctic penguins and seals, the possible end of our regular seasons and unlivable hot conditions, the extinction of my favorite South American morning coffee friend cuts the hardest.
NEW AIRCRAFT IS MORE EFFICIENT THAN SUVs
Source: Otto Aviation
- The Celera 500L is a revolutionary aircraft design that's far more efficient than a SUV and 2-times more efficient than conventional jets. Here are some key facts:
- Created by US-based Otto Aviation
- Radical egg-shaped design that supports plane's aerodynamics and minimizes fuel consumption
- Business jet that seats 6 passengers for long-range flights & low operating costs
- Single engine - 6 cylinder V12 diesel engine - that doesn't run on jet fuel
- It's a Transonic Super Laminar (TSL) plane, flying on laminar rather than turbulent airflow that cuts the friction drag by 80%
- Undergoing extensive testing with these results so far:
- 60% less fuel burned
- Half the operating cost of conventional planes
- 90% reduction in carbon emissions
- This aircraft technology is considered the "Holy Grail" of aviation efficiency and could revolutionize aviation
- Launches in 2025.
