  • Stanford University's new brain implant to reverse the effects of traumatic brain injury is proving to be very effective. This has the appearances of something to watch as a breakthrough medical device. Here's what we know:
  • It's a deep brain stimulation implant
  • Designed to enhance activity in the brain regions responsible for cognition, memory, problem solving and learning, when those areas have been diminished by traumatic injury
  • Uses specifically calibrated amounts of electricity to re-activate areas of the brain damaged and enable them to activate brain functions again
  • Appears this implant actually "undoes" damage from a severe brain injury
  • During clinical trials, brain damaged trial participants saw significant improvements in memory, concentration and even the multi-tasking ability to drive
  • 5 participants, between the ages of 22-to-66-year-old, had the device surgically implanted
  • Key result:  32% average participant improvement in mental processing speed
  • One participant reported she had regained the ability to read after receiving the implant
  • This new implant continues through the regulatory clearance process
  • For everyone including investors, this is promising new innovation to watch for progress and development in the treatment of traumatic brain injuries
  • Just in the US, 5 million people are suffering with traumatic brain injuries right now.

  • Japan and the European Union have activated the world's largest nuclear fusion reactor in Japan.  It's a breakthrough for sustainable, clean energy generation.  Here are the key facts:
  • Called JT-60SA, the nuclear fusion reactor mimics the way the Sun generates energy
  • It contains swirling plasma heated to 360-million degrees F
  • The intense heat causes hydrogen nuclei to fuse and create helium, which releases energy as heat and light
  • This is a major milestone for the development of sustainable nuclear fusion power, which is expected to be a major source of energy in the future.

  • The X-37B is a reusable spacecraft being developed by the US Space Force and built by Boeing.  For the 1st time, it will be launched by SpaceX this weekend.  Here's what we know:
  • X-37B will be carried on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket
  • It's an Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV)
  • Will be carried into orbit by the rocket and then re-enter Earth's atmosphere and land as a spaceplane
  • Missions are usually mysterious for X-37B and are sometimes speculated as reconnaissance
  • Falcon Heavy is extremely powerful, which suggests the X-37B may be targeting a deeper space orbit
  • Expected to conduct a wide range of testing and experimenting with advanced space domain awareness technologies.
