US MAY GET ITS 1ST TRULY HI-SPEED TRAIN

  • Called Brightline West, the high-speed bullet train would be a first for the US and connect LA and Las Vegas.  Here are some key facts:
  • Biden Administration just awarded a $3 billion grant for the development of Brightline West
  • This is the 1st truly high-speed bullet train that would deploy in the US
  • Founded and being developed by private equity billionaire Wes Edens
  • This is a $12 billion, 218-mile, high speed green train
  • Train is electric powered from solar farms
  • Top speeds of 200 mph plus
  • Edens' Brightline is currently providing rail service between Miami and Orlando at speeds up to 125 mph
  • This looks like a turning point moment for green, high-speed trains in the US.


MCDONALDS ORDERS AI FROM GOOGLE

  • McDonalds is the latest company looking for greater productivity and efficiencies from AI right down to the perfect fries for you.  Here's what we know:
  • McDonalds has engaged Google to develop an AI Chatbot to help employees do their jobs like providing you with the perfect fries and burgers
  • The AI tool will also assist employees by answering questions like "How do I clean the ice cream machine?" with specific instructions
  • The AI tool is also being developed to monitor the efficiency of the machines McD employees are using
  • It also will be capable of answering real-time policy-related questions and enable the employees to proceed properly
  • In a broader context McDonalds is looking to AI to increase its productivity, efficiencies and improve the bottom line
  • The fast-food giant also intends to use Google/Alphabet innovations like the Cloud and generative AI to deliver top quality service and products to its customers.


AMAZON BANKROLLING HUMANOID ROBOTS

  • Amazon invested, Agility Robotics has developed a very human robot named Digit to work closely with humans as logistical support on assembly lines, in warehouses and factories.  Here are some key facts:
  • Oregon-based Agility says Digit operates at a cost of $10 to $12 per hour side by side with humans doing the same job
  • As more Digits are produced and economies of scale kick-in, Digit will cost $2.00 per hour to do the job
  • Agility has GXO Logistics, which is the world's largest logistics  provider, providing proof-of-concept pilot testing on Digit
  • It's 5'9", 140 pounds and can lift up to 35 pounds
  • Digit is a look at the future of logistics by a human centric, multi-tasking robot.
